Ted Turner still misses Jane Fonda, said Stephen Galloway in The Hollywood Reporter. In 2001, Fonda announced that she wanted to end their decade-long marriage. Letting her go broke the billionaire’s heart. “I couldn’t do anything else,” says Turner, 73. “What am I supposed to do, sit down and cry? I did for six months. And after that, you gotta go on.” The CNN founder blames his nomadic lifestyle for the breakup, explaining that Fonda hated shuttling between his numerous properties. “[Jane said], ‘I want two homes—a winter home and a summer home; I don’t want 10,’” he says. “She couldn’t take the travel. It’s much harder for a woman than a man.” Turner replaced Fonda with four new girlfriends, each of whom gets him for a week a month. “That’s the general rule,” he says. Are they okay with that division of spoils? He hesitates before saying, “Sort of.” Turner admits that he misses the intimacy he enjoyed with Fonda. “[But] I’ve been married three times, and with my background in baseball”—he once owned the Atlanta Braves—“I remember the first rule of the game is three strikes and you’re out. I regret that I wasn’t more successful with my marriages, but it is what it is.” Is he lonely? He pauses. “Maybe a little.”
