Laura Bush's gay marriage prediction

Citing "generational" change, the former first lady tells Larry King that Americans will eventually accept gay marriage

Gay marriage proponents have a new, unexpected ally: Former first lady Laura Bush. During her appearance on "Larry King Live" Tuesday, Mrs. Bush admitted that she, unlike her husband, supports same-sex marriage and predicted that other conservatives will "slowly" accept the idea: "When [gay] couples are committed to each other and love each other," she said, "they ought to have...the same sort of rights that everyone has." While Roger Simon in Pajamas Media agreed that "the world has changed" on same-sex marriage — whether my fellow conservatives like it or not — Jonathan Capehart in the Washington Post faulted Bush for waiting this long: "Heroes are made" when they "take a stand from a position of power." How unfortunate that she "averted her gaze until now." Watch the clip:
