Burning Man festival not at fault

A California man who deliberately walked into a fire at the annual Burning Man festival in Nevada has failed to win compensation for his burns. Anthony Beninati admits he walked into the embers of the festival’s closing bonfire in 2005, suffering burns to his hands and legs when he tripped. A court this week ruled that organizers had not been negligent, saying that the risk of being burned was “obvious.”

A three-year custody battle between a broken-up New Jersey couple has ended with a judge ordering shared custody of Dexter, their dog. Eric Ware took the dog when he and Doreen Houseman broke up in 2006. Three years of legal wrangling later, a judge ordered Ware and Houseman to share the pug on rotating five-week visits. “I never thought it would come to this,” Ware said.
