Hotel of the week: Casa Malibu Inn on the Beach, Malibu, Calif.
Set on the ocean side of the Pacific Coast Highway, Casa Malibu Inn was built long before the area became the residence of choice for Hollywood's celebrities.
Travelers more interested in ocean views than celebrity sightings know to come to Casa Malibu Inn, said Christopher Reynolds in the Los Angeles Times. Built in 1949, the 21-room hotel harks back to Malibu’s more modest days, long before Brad Pitt and Britney Spears took up residence in these hills. Situated on the “coveted ocean side” of the Pacific Coast Highway, the simple inn doesn’t offer much in the way of amenities. (New furniture and flat-screen TVs are expected in the coming months.) But the inn makes up for its lack of luxuries with “intimate” Pacific views.
