Moore under scrutiny
The week's news at a glance.
Washington, D.C.
The Treasury Department last week confirmed that it is investigating controversial filmmaker Michael Moore for visiting Cuba while making his latest documentary, Sicko, about the health–care industry. To make a point about the treatment of ailing 9/11 rescue workers, Moore brought 10 workers to Cuba for medical care. U.S. officials have requested a detailed accounting of the trip to determine if Moore obeyed the regulations under which journalists are permitted to travel to the communist country. “Until George W. Bush outlaws helping your fellow man,” said Moore, an outspoken Bush critic, “I have broken no laws.”
