Virginia Beach, Va.
A Christian university founded by televangelist Pat Robertson has become one of the top suppliers of personnel to the Bush administration, The Boston Globe reported this week. More than 150 graduates of Regent University, in Virginia Beach, have gone on to work for the Bush administration. Among them: Monica Goodling, a top assistant to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales until she resigned last week after refusing to testify before Congress about the fired prosecutors scandal. She is an alumna of the Regent School of Law, which U.S. News & World Report ranks in the lowest tier of law schools. Another Regent graduate is Kay Coles James, director of the Office of Personnel Management, which oversees executive branch hiring. Robertson founded Regent in 1978, saying its mission was to provide “Christian leadership to change the world.”
