Three British soldiers were arrested this week on suspicion of abusing Iraqi civilians. The arrests came after the tabloid News of the World published stills from a video it said shows British soldiers attacking Iraqi teenagers, “beating them senseless with vicious blows from batons, boots, and fists.” The paper said that the cameraman, said to be Cpl. Martin Webster of 1st Battalion the Light Infantry, can be heard laughing and egging the soldiers on. Webster and two others were taken into military custody. The News said the video was shot in southern Iraq in 2004.
