Helpful terror pamphlet

The week's news at a glance.

London

The British government said this week it would send every household in the U.K. a 22-page leaflet detailing what to do in case of a massive terrorist attack. The leaflet advises Brits to “go in, stay in, and tune in” to the radio. It says every family should have a stock of canned food and bottled water, as well as a battery-powered radio. British newspapers mocked the $15 million enterprise, saying it offered nothing beyond common sense. But police chief Chris Fox said most people no longer kept basic supplies in the home. “We have 24-hour shops, we have 24-hour fuel, and 24-hour cash,” he said. “Thirty years ago, people were prepared to last a little bit longer before they needed these things.”
