Subway blast

Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was certain that Chechen terrorists were to blame for last week’s deadly bomb explosion in the Moscow Metro. The powerful bomb killed at least 40 people, and many of the victims were shredded beyond recognition. There was no physical evidence tying Chechens to the event, but officials in neighboring Georgia said a man showed up at the Russian Embassy in Georgia the day before the attack, warning that Chechen rebels were planning a bombing. Moscow’s Metro is the world’s busiest subway system, with more than 8 million passengers a day.
