Anti-Semitic miniseries

Cairo
The Islamic holy month of Ramadan began this week, and Egypt celebrated by airing a new drama based partly on one of the most notorious forgeries in history, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The book, which purports to be a blueprint for Jews to take over the world, was written by the czarist secret police as a pretext for persecuting Jews; later the Nazis revived the myth for the same purpose. Now the new Egyptian series, Horse Without a Horseman, uses it to explore the theme of Jews taking over Arab land. The show’s writer and star, Muhammad Soghi, says he has an open mind about the authenticity of the Protocols. Zionism “has controlled the world since the dawn of history,” he said. The show airs throughout the Arab world every night during Ramadan, when millions of Muslims will be home breaking their fast.
