Good Day, Bad Day

Sticky fingers, line-cutters

GOOD DAY FOR: Sticky fingers, as publishers at the Frankfurt Book Fair can now consult a “most stolen book” index, published by the newspaper Bild am Sonntag, to forecast the popularity of their new offerings. “The most-stolen books are usually the most-sold later on,” said Claudia Hanssen of the Goldmann Verlag publishing house. BAD DAY FOR: Line-cutters, as a federal judge in Los Angeles ordered RMG Technologies to stop selling software that lets ticket brokers flood Ticketmaster’s Web site to buy large amounts of tickets, shutting out human buyers. Ticketmaster said that StubHub and other ticket resellers use the software to unfairly “cut to the front of the line.” (AP in CNNMoney.com)
