Innovation of the week: Smart oven
The June Intelligent Oven can tell the difference between frozen pizza and a piece of fish

A new smart oven not only can tell the difference between frozen pizza and a piece of fish, it also cooks it accordingly, said Wilson Rothman at The Wall Street Journal. The June Intelligent Oven, which is only "a bit larger than a microwave," is packed with a high-definition video camera, WiFi, food scales, and temperature probes.
Using these technologies in tandem, the oven can recognize about 15 common foods and cook them to perfection. "If you want your steak medium well, just crank the knob." And more foods are being added to the list. June's cofounders include a creator of Zimride, which became the ride-sharing service Lyft, and a designer behind the original iPhone camera technology. The device is currently available for presale at $1,500. It will cost $3,000 when it becomes widely available for purchase next year.
