Innovation of the week: A muffler for snorers
Meet the Silent Partner

"There are plenty of crazy tricks to stop yourself snoring, from sewing a marble into the collar of your pajamas so you don't sleep on your back, to chin straps that keep your mouth closed," said Charlie Sorrel at Fast Company. A wearable nosepiece that uses the same technology as noise-canceling headphones forgoes prevention in favor of a simpler solution: muffling the snores.
The Silent Partner listens to the noise in the room and generates the opposite sound, with the opposing sound waves canceling each other out. The device, which runs off a rechargeable hearing-aid battery, hangs across the bridge of the nose and sticks to the lower cheeks. It won't cure snoring, but the result should be an easier night's rest for both the snorer and his or her bedmate. The Silent Partner will cost $99 when it goes on sale, and is available for pre-order on Indiegogo.com.
