1. KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker 5KSMICM
If you have a KitchenAid stand mixer (or are getting one), this attachment can make it double up as an ice cream maker. There’s no timer, so the process is a bit more manual, and does require some pre-freezing, but it’s easy to use and works well.

2. Cuisinart Ice Cream and Gelato Professional
Cuisinart’s great all-in-one machine will let you make a tub of ice cream without any need for pre-freezing. It has a family-sized 1.5-litre capacity and while it will take up a bit of counter space, it’s fairly good looking.
3. Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream and Frozen Dessert Maker
With this model, you fill one of the provided tubs with your chosen ingredients and freeze them for at least 24 hours, then when you fancy a treat, you pop it in the machine to create an ice cream, gelato, sorbet, smoothie or milkshake. It’s a bit noisy, but it’s very quick.
4. Sage Smart Scoop
This all-in-one machine is on the large side (although at 1 litre, its bowl is smaller than some), but it is versatile, and there are lots of settings that enable you to do things such as choose your preferred consistency.
5. Lakeland Digital Ice Cream Maker
One of the cheapest models on the market, this requires a bit of prep and pre-freezing for its recipes, but the results are good. It’s also easy to use and clean, and has a good 1.8-litre capacity.
