1. Jake Gyllenhaal thinks human bodies clean themselves naturally
Oh, what's that? You're still taking regular showers and maintaining your personal hygiene out of respect for others? Then you must have missed the memo that showering isn't cool anymore, and none of the celebs are doing it. This time, it's Jake Gyllenhaal speaking out about how he's "baffled by loofahs" and how "more and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times." In the interview with Vanity Fair, Gyllenhaal went on to say "I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that. But I do also think that there's a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves." We … what now? Take this as full permission to skip this trend altogether and keep on cleaning yourself naturally — in your shower.
2. The potential next host of Jeopardy! is drawing new scrutiny
Who is Mike Richards? Potentially, the next host of Jeopardy!, but he's drawing new scrutiny from fans. Richards, the executive producer of Jeopardy! who's reportedly in negotiations to succeed Alex Trebek, previously served as producer of The Price is Right. As numerous reports have noted, in 2010, a former model for the show filed a lawsuit alleging she was fired by Richards because she became pregnant. Additionally, model Lanisha Cole filed a lawsuit in 2011 alleging she was wrongfully terminated and was harassed on the show, though Richards was dismissed as a plaintiff in this case. With the official decision over whether to give him the gig looming, we'll take "announcements that may not go over well" for $1,000.

3. Britney Spears got an iPad
You might say Britney Spears is a little bit excited about her new iPad. "This is just a groundbreaking day," Spears told her fans in a new video she posted to her Instagram. "I've always had a little phone, but now this iPad is in my hands, and I feel like my life is changing as we speak, and I am so excited. Upward bound, yes!" Spears celebrated by recreating the sobriety test scene from Bridesmaids, doing a shuffle in her new pink heels to end the video. Congratulations, anyway, to Britney, whose new iPad makes her an honorary boomer; enjoy watching Ed Sullivan clips on YouTube and writing emails with the keyboard sounds turned on!
4. HBO halts production on The White House Plumbers over 'unprofessional behavior'
The cast and crew of a forthcoming HBO series about Watergate are getting some firsthand experience in scandals of their own. Filming of The White House Plumbers, a limited series starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux, was suspended this week over "alleged unprofessional behavior" on set, Deadline reports. Sources told the publication that there was an "altercation" between the series' director and executive producer, David Mandel, and a member of the prop department. "I hear there may have been a second altercation on Thursday, Aug. 5, which led to the show's prop department quitting in protest," wrote Nellie Andreeva, adding that the call sheet sent out to crew on Thursday "included a note with contacts for anyone to report bullying on set." HBO is reportedly investigating the incident.

5. Kanye's new album still missing even after second listening party
Stop us if you've heard this one before: a new Kanye West album is once again nowhere to be found on the day it was expected to be released. The rapper on Thursday held a second listening party for his new album Donda at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, during which he was "lifted hundreds of feet into the air as the halo lights below him shot into the heavens," Billboard writes. But after the listening party wrapped up, the completed album again failed to drop as expected. West reportedly isn't leaving the stadium until Donda is done, so might his stay there end up lasting through the entire rest of the summer? Stay tuned.
