CHILE MINERS: RESCUE STARTS ON WEDNESDAYThere was rejoicing in Chile yesterday as a wide drill finally broke through to the refuge where 33 miners have been trapped since August 5. Bells rang at the mine head and family members hugged each other. The miners themselves greeted the news with the words: "What the hell took you so long?" The rescue will begin on Wednesday after parts of the tunnel wall have been clad in metal. Picture: Chile prepares to rescue miners KIDNAPPED AID WORKER DIES DURING RESCUELinda Norgrove, the British aid worker who was kidnapped in Afghanistan two weeks ago, has died after one of her captors detonated his explosive vest during a failed attempt to rescue her by US special forces.
