Rioters have attacked the British Embassy in Buenos Aires after setting fire to a Union Jack flag and an effigy of Prince William during a demonstration over British policy in the Falklands. Yesterday, the Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner described Britain's stance on the Islands as "ridiculous and absurd".

2. GET A GRIP, TORY MPS TOLD
Conservative MPs who have voiced concerns over how David Cameron is running the Government have been told they need "to get a grip" by an executive member of the 1922 Committee. Charlie Elphicke said the MPs "need to realise that government is not a cakewalk".

3. HIRST GIFT SHOP OFFERS £36K SKULL
A plastic skull costing £36,800 is just one of the expensive products on sale at the Tate Modern gift shop to accompany Damien Hirst's new show. The shop is also offering a set of 12 plates for £10,500 and a skateboard for £480. Last week, critic Julian Spalding dismissed Hirst's work as "con art".
4. GOVE WANTS UNIS TO SET 'A' LEVELS
Universities should take a central role in setting 'A' levels so the courses can properly prepare students for higher education - that's the verdict of Education Secretary Michael Gove. He told the exam regulator he "does not envisage the Department for Education having a role" in the future and says universities should "drive the system".
5. OAKLAND SHOOTING SUSPECT NAMED
The man believed to have shot dead seven people and injured three others at a California university has been named as 43-year-old One Goh. The suspect, who surrendered at a supermarket in nearby Alameda city, is a former student of the private religious college in Oakland.

6. SCHOOLBOY KILLED MUM WITH HAMMER
A schoolboy battered his mother to death with a hammer after becoming obsessed with a murder storyline on Coronation Street. Daniel Bartlam, who was jailed for a minimum of 16 years yesterday, was fascinated by the character John Stape, who murdered a woman with a hammer.
7. COLOMBIAN REBELS FREE HOSTAGES
Colombia's Farc rebels have released the last 10 police and military hostages that they had been holding for over a decade. The captives, who waved and punched the air, were collected from the jungle by a Brazilian military helicopter. President Juan Manuel Santos said the gesture by the Farc is "not enough".
8. SCHOOL MEAL SIZES SHRINKING
School meal portions are shrinking as part of cost-cutting measures, teachers and parents have warned. A study by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers found that primary-age children's meals are being hit hardest. The number of children who qualify for free school meals has increased in the past five years.
9. UNITED GO FIVE POINTS CLEAR
Manchester United are five points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating Blackburn Rovers 2-0 at Ewood Park. Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young both struck in the last 10 minutes. United have now taken 31 points from a possible 33 since losing at Newcastle in January.
