1. UN AND OBAMA BEG FOR GAZA CEASEFIRE

The UN has called for an "immediate and unconditional humanitarian ceasefire" in Gaza. An emergency session of the Security Council backed a statement calling for a truce over the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. "In the name of humanity, the violence must stop," said UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon. President Obama has also called on Israel to implement a ceasefire.
