1. LAST DAY OF IRAN NUCLEAR TALKS BEGINS
Talks between six world powers and Iran to agree a limit on the middle-eastern state’s nuclear ambitions have entered their last few hours today in Switzerland. US secretary of state John Kerry said the talks had shed “some light” but warned that “trick issues” remain to be tackled before tonight’s self-imposed deadline.
2. PARTIES FOCUS ON ECONOMY AND HEALTH
On the first official day of the general election campaign yesterday the UK’s main political parties focused on the economy and health, says the BBC. The Lib Dems promised to spend more on mental health, while the Tories pledged to create two million jobs and Labour said they’d scrap a corporation tax cut.
3. BORNEO KILLINGS: MAN TO BE EXECUTED
A 23-year-old fishmonger has been sentenced to death in Borneo for stabbing two British fourth-year medical students who had been on attachment to a hospital there. The families of Neil Dalton and Aidan Brunger, who were both 22, said they were “pleased” with the verdict but it would not bring their sons back.

4. UGANDA: AL SHABAB PROSECUTOR KILLED
The lead prosecutor for the Ugandan state in the case of 13 alleged members of Islamist group al-Shabab accused of killing 76 in a bombing in Kampala in 2010 has been murdered. Joan Kagezi was described by a colleague as one of the country’s finest prosecutors, yet a deeply “unassuming” woman.
5. ALPS CRASH LUBITZ: ‘SUICIDAL TENDENCIES’
The Germanwings co-pilot believed to have deliberately flown a jet into a mountainside last week, killing 149 people and himself, had been treated for “suicidal tendencies” several years ago, a German prosecutor has said. However, in recent years doctors had not recorded any such concerns.
6. BRITISH COUPLE SHOT DEAD IN SPAIN
A retired British couple were yesterday found shot dead on a sofa in their Alicante home. Peter and Jean Tarsey had not taken their own lives as no weapon was found, Spanish police say. Nor was there any evidence of robbery. Peter Tarsey was an Olympic diver who competed at Melbourne in 1956.
7. CHILDREN EXPOSED TO INTERNET PORN
A survey by the NSPC has found that almost one in ten children aged 12 or 13 say they are worried about becoming addicted to internet pornography. A similar number say they have made or been part of a sexually explicit video, while one in five say they have seen pornographic images that shocked or upset them.
8. MAN KILLED BY TUBE TRAIN AT OLD STREET
A man was killed on the London Underground late on Sunday night after he leant over the tracks at Old Street to try and help his brother. The brother, who is in hospital in a critical condition, had jumped onto the track to try to retrieve an item he had dropped, according to staff who watched the incident on CCTV.
9. SOUTH AFRICAN NOAH TO HOST DAILY SHOW
A replacement host has been announced for US satirical news programme The Daily Show. Trevor Noah, a South African comedian who has appeared as a guest on the show three times, is the surprise choice. Just 31, the comic is the “first non-white, non-American to fill the role”, reports The Guardian.
