1. ROYAL BABY: IT'S A GIRL!

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a girl, just two hours after she was admitted to hospital for the delivery of the new royal baby. "Her royal highness, the Duchess of Cambridge, was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am," an official statement from Kensington Palace announced.

2. ISIS VOWS REVENGE ON EUROPE

ISIS fighters are vowing to take revenge after their leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was seriously injured in an air strike, according to insiders. He was wounded in an attack from the US-led coalition while travelling last month in a three-car convoy in Nineveh, Iraq. It is claimed that ISIS is planning to “fight back against Europe”.

3. ‘NO MORE SURVIVORS’, SAYS NEPAL

Nepal has ruled out the chance of finding more survivors of last Saturday's earthquake, reports the BBC. As the death toll has risen to 6,621, home ministry spokesman Laxmi Prasad Dhakal said: "We are trying our best in rescue and relief work but now I don't think that there is any possibility of survivors under the rubble.”

4. SNP DETAILS LABOUR SUPPORT PLANS

The Scottish National Party has drawn up plans explaining how they would broker an agreement to support a minority government led by Ed Miliband, claims the Telegraph. The secret documents identify the areas where the SNP shares common ground with the Labour. They state the Scottish nationalists would be happy to "work to support Labour on a case by case basis".

5. HOME BATTERIES ‘WILL SAVE HUNDREDS’

Household batteries that will collect solar power and cheap off-peak electricity are to become everyday items after a scientific breakthrough, experts are predicting. The device, which could save consumers hundreds of pounds per year, was praised as the start of a new era of cheaper electricity and home-generated renewable energy.

6. UKIP SUSPENSION OVER JEWISH TWEETS

A Ukip election candidate has been suspended after sending abusive tweets to Jewish MPs. Jack Sen, standing for the party in the seat of West Lancashire, targeted Labour’s Luciana Berger and Conservative chairman Grant Shapps. His tweet to Berger read: “You're about authentic Labour as Ed Miliband. Protect child benefits? If you had it your way you'd send the £ to Poland/Israel.”

7. FOOTBALL FANS FACE BREATHALYSER

Will football fans across the country soon be breathalysed before entering grounds? In an initiative to stamp out anti-social behaviour and drunkenness at games, a trial run will take place at Saturday's game between League Two sides, Cambridge United and Burton Albion. Anyone who appears intoxicated will be asked to blow into the measuring device.

8. ROLF HARRIS COULD FACE NEW CHARGES

Rolf Harris could face new charges of abuse after a new file of evidence was handed to the Crown Prosecution Service. A spokesman for the CPS said: "The CPS has received a full file of evidence following the interview under caution of an 85-year-old man on 3 and 4 February at a police station in Stafford in relation to Operation Yewtree.”

9. HILLSBOROUGH COP: ‘I WAS WRONG’

A former police chief has admitted he was "wrong" to issue a statement saying fans' behaviour at Hillsborough "made the job of the police harder". Sir Norman Bettison, who made the statement the day after a report into the disaster was published, told the inquest jury he "regrets" making the comments "in the terms that I did, on the day that I did".

10. BOXING: FLOYD AND MANNY WEIGH IN

Around 11,500 fans watched as Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao weighed in ahead of the most lucrative fight in history in Las Vegas on Saturday. Although entry to the weigh-in at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Friday was $10, tickets were changing hands on the resale market for as much as $800. The fight is set to generate an estimated $400m.
