1. RAF’s UK jihadi ‘kill list’ revealed
RAF drones have been hunting British jihadis in Syria for months, working from a ‘kill list’ drawn up by the government shortly after the election. The Lib Dems have said they would have vetoed such a move if they were still in coalition. Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn and concerned MPs from all parties fear the killings are illegal.

2. BA jet in ‘catastrophic’ fire on runway
Fourteen people have been hurt, none seriously, after a BA jet about to leave Las Vegas for London caught fire on the tarmac. All the passengers were evacuated from the Boeing 777-200 on the runway, within five minutes of the pilot raising the alarm. The fire was in one engine, which was described as suffering a “catastrophic” failure.

3. Queen becomes longest-reigning UK monarch
The Queen today overtakes her great-great-grandmother, Victoria, to become Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, when she enters the 217th day of her 64th year on the throne. There will be no official commemoration of the moment and the Queen has said she doesn’t want to make a fuss, partly out of respect for her forbear.

4. Paula Radcliffe denies doping claims
World marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe has denied any involvement in doping after an MP told a select committee hearing that top British athletes were implicated. Jesse Norman, MP, stopped short of naming Radcliffe - but she says she is “devastated” to be implicated by his remarks and has never cheated “in any form”.
5. Immigration policy ‘is splitting up families’
A rule which says the spouse of a non-EU worker in the UK cannot join them if they earn less than £18,500 has left at least 15,000 children separated from a parent, the Children’s Commissioner for England says. Anne Longfield added that the UK is creating “Skype families”. The home office says the rules preserve human rights.
6. Shadow cabinet MPs to quit if Corbyn wins
Up to eight of Labour’s most prominent MPs will refuse to stay in the shadow cabinet if Jeremy Corbyn wins the party leadership, The Guardian says, despite pressure from Corbyn supporters and others to preserve party unity. Shadow chancellor Chris Leslie says Corbyn does not share his “instincts” on the economy or society.

7. Rooney breaks England goals record
Wayne Rooney last night became England’s record goal-scorer as his team beat Switzerland 2-0 in a Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley. Rooney’s 50th goal was a penalty six minutes before time, earning him a standing ovation as he surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s record 49 tally, which had stood unchallenged for 45 years.

8. Toddlers tunnel out of nursery to buy Jaguar
Two Russian five-year-olds spent several days tunnelling under a fence in the grounds of their nursery school in order to buy a Jaguar sports car, without money. The boys walked over a mile after escaping and were found by a passer-by near a car showroom. The supervisor in charge has been fired, and the head warned.

9. Bride wins £5,000 sleeping in shop window
A bride-to-be from Devon has won £5,000-worth of presents for her nuptials by outlasting a rival standing (or sometimes lying) as a ‘human mannequin’ in a local wedding shop window. Kate Holder, 27, lasted 58.5 hours, with a toilet break permitted every four hours. She said she had bruised hips from sleeping on the floor.
10. Briefing: why Princess Charlotte is already worth £3 billion
Princess Charlotte may only be five months old, but no-one can accuse the young princess of failing to pay her way. According to business valuation agency Brand Finance, the newest addition to the royal family is worth a staggering £3.2bn – more than her big brother Prince George, whose net present value was estimated to be £2.4bn.
