1. Clinton clashes with Sanders in TV debate
Last night in Las Vegas, five Democrat presidential candidates debated on TV - and the commentators are agreed that the real fight was between front-runner Hillary Clinton and her closest rival in the polls, the self-styled democratic socialist Bernie Sanders. Clinton criticised Sanders for holding a weak position on gun control.

2. £20m stolen from UK bank accounts by hackers
More than £20m from British bank accounts after a virus was used to access accounts. Hackers used a "particularly virulent" malware called Dridex which is hidden in a malicious Microsoft Office document that records login details. The gang behind the cyber-attack are believed to be from Eastern Europe and may have stolen as much as £66m globally.

3. Divorce ruling could lead to renegotiation
Two women who say their husbands hid the true extent of their wealth during divorce proceedings have won their fight for more money at the Supreme Court. Alison Sharland and Varsha Gohil will now take their claims back to the High Court. The ruling could allow more people to renegotiate divorce settlements if one party has been dishonest.
4. Marlon James: first Jamaican to win Man Booker
For the first time, a Jamaican author has won the prestigious Man Booker prize for literature. Marlon James received the award last night in London from Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, for A Brief History of Seven Killings, a fictional account of an attempt to murder Bob Marley notable for its violence, swearing and graphic sex.
5. Georgia Williams murder: police admit failing teen
West Mercia police have apologised to the parents of murdered teenager Georgia Williams, saying they let her and her parents down. Steve and Lynette Williams said the findings of a serious case review were an “embarrassment” to police and showed the 17-year-old’s murder by hanging by Jamie Reynolds could have been prevented.

6. Russia's Islamic State claim dismissed as 'extraordinary'
Russian claims that it has destroyed "the majority" of Islamic State's ammunition, heavy vehicles and equipment in just ten days have been dismissed as "extraordinary" by UK-based observers. Meanwhile, Russia is expected to hold talks with the US over air safety in Syria following a "near miss" between two fighter jets who came within 20 miles of each other at the weekend.

7. Tesco: shoppers steal baskets because of bag fees
A Tesco store in Oldham has started putting security tags on baskets because of a wave of thefts over the past week after the government told major retailers to start charging customers 5p for a plastic bag. And some Tesco branches in London have begun adding tags to plastic ‘bags for life’ to prevent these too being stolen.
8. Calais migrants come face to face with polar bear
Migrants looking for a way into the UK ended up face to face with a polar bear when they boarded a lorry transporting the animal to a new life at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster. Three migrants jumped on board the vehicle in Calais but were removed by French police after ten minutes. The bear, called Nissan, who was secure in a cage, has since made it across the channel.
9. Ebola nurse now 'critically ill'
Scottish nurse Pauline Cafferkey is now "critically ill" with Ebola at the Royal Free Hospital in London. The 39-year-old appeared to have beaten the disease after being infected while in Sierra Leone last year. She was discharged after apparently making a full recovery, but was readmitted to hospital last week after a relapse, and her condition has now deteriorated further.
10. Briefing: what the MH17 report has revealed
Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine by a Russian-built missile according to the final report of the Dutch Safety Board. Its findings come 15 months after the plane came down, killing all 298 people on board. The investigation aimed to answer four key questions: what caused the plane to disintegrate in mid-air? Why was it flying over the conflict zone? To what extent were those on board aware of what was happening? And why the identification of the bodies was delayed?
