Police discover ‘unconscious woman’ is art installation
And other stories from the stranger side of life
Two police officers forced their way into a gallery in London to rescue a seemingly unconscious woman, only to find it was a mannequin forming part of an art installation. The Met Police broke into the Laz Emporium gallery in Soho after a member of the public reported seeing someone “in distress”, said The Independent. The £18,000 sculpture had been commissioned by Banksy’s former agent, Steve Lazarides.
Students build huge menorah from Lego
Students at a school in north London have attempted a world record by building an 18-foot hanukkiah from 80,000 Lego bricks. The Gesher School, a Jewish school for students with special education needs, built the vast candelabra sculpture from about 80,000 Lego pieces under the watchful eye of teaching assistant Danny Cazzato, a former Lego employee. A hanukkiah “is the traditional menorah used for celebrations during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah,” said UPI.
Colour of the year revealed
Pink has leapfrogged grey as the colour of the year for “fashionistas and interior designers”, said The Telegraph. Pantone, which produces a colour-matching system used by designers and creatives, has unveiled Viva Magenta - a deep, reddish pink - as its colour of 2022. “Pink may divide opinion; however, over the past few years, this versatile shade has boomed in popularity,” said a designer of bespoke kitchens.
