Vermont town elects goat as mayor

A town in Vermont town has elected an unusual new mayor: a goat named Lincoln. Authorities in the town decided to hold an election for an animal mayor for Fair Haven, which does not have a human mayor, to raise funds to replace a school playground. Residents were charged $5 for the privilege of casting a vote.

Man survives after being almost swallowed by whale

A tour operator was almost swallowed by a whale, but lived to tell the tale. Rainer Schimpf was snorkelling on the surface of the water off South Africa's Port Elizabeth Harbour when a Bryde's whale engulfed him in its mouth. “Obviously he realised I was not what he wanted to eat so he spat me out again,” Schimpf said.

Boy devastated after goldfish cuddle goes wrong

A four-year-old boy who took his goldfish out of its tank for a cuddle is now in mourning for his deceased pet. Everett Hamlin stood on a chair to fish Nemo the out of the tank in his room. His mother explained: “Buddy, you killed your fish. Fish can’t live out of water.”
