Jack Vettriano’s portrait of Zara Phillips could fetch £1m
A portrait of Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Phillips, by the Scottish artist Jack Vettriano is to be auctioned at Bonhams in London today to raise money for the charity Sport Relief. Despite the credit crunch it is expected to achieve £1m, according to the Daily Telegraph. As students of Vettriano’s work will know, the 56-year-old multi-millionaire artist usually prefers to titilate the viewer with lingerie and a degree of bare flesh. In this case, he asked Phillips, who narrowly missed competing in the Bejing Olympics this year, to wear jodhpurs and boots for the painting. His sitter demurred in favour of tight black trousers and stilettoes.
