'Active shooter' reported at Texas military hospital

An "active shooter" was reported at a Fort Bliss military hospital in El Paso, Texas, on Monday afternoon. The entire William Beaumont Army Medical Center and adjacent veterans' hospital are on lockdown, The Associated Press reports.
We'll update this story as we know more.
UPDATE 7:29 p.m.: The gunman shot a doctor at the VA health clinic before shooting and killing himself, KTSM El Paso reports. The doctor's condition is currently unknown.

UPDATE 9:20 p.m.: The person shot at the military hospital has died, KVUE reports. The names of the victim and the gunman are being withheld, pending notification of their families. Fort Bliss Maj. Gen. Stephen M. Twitty said in a news conference Tuesday night that the FBI will lead the investigation into the shooting. --Julie Kliegman
