States have enacted 231 new abortion restrictions since the 2010 midterms

In the last four years, U.S. states have enacted 231 new restrictions on abortions.
During the 2014 state legislative session alone, lawmakers introduced 335 provisions that would restrict abortion access, and 26 of the provisions were signed into law. The Guttmacher Institute reports that the new laws have doubled the number of states that are "hostile to abortion rights" from 13 in 2000 to 27 in 2014.
On the other side of the spectrum, 17 states introduced 95 measures in 2014 that would expand abortion access, but only four of them were signed into law. Read more about the new abortion laws over at The Guttmacher Institute.
