Giuliani: NYPD cops were wrong to turn their backs on de Blasio
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has spoken up in defense of Bill de Blasio, the current occupant of the mayor's office, who has been the subject of an extraordinarily hostile campaign by members of the New York Police Department, many of whom blame the mayor for stoking anti-cop resentment that led to the murders of two police officers earlier this month. The latest salvo came this weekend, when angry officers turned their backs on de Blasio as he gave a speech at the funeral for one of the officers.
Here's what Giuliani told the New York Daily News:
The mayor is not in any way to be treated with people turning their backs. It doesn't matter whether you like the mayor or you don't like the mayor, you have to respect the mayor's position. [Daily News]
