A Staten Island grand jury has decided not to bring charges against the New York City police officer whose chokehold resulted in the death of a black man, Eric Garner.
In July, officer Daniel Pantaleo used a chokehold while trying to arrest Garner for selling loose cigarettes without a license. The incident was caught on camera, and Garner can be heard saying "I can't breathe" before he collapses.
An autopsy later concluded Garner died from "neck compression," and his death was ruled a homicide.
