Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) made it official on Tuesday, announcing that he will indeed be running in 2016 — for re-election to his Senate seat.
Technically, Paul said last May he would definitely run again for Senate. But he made a more formal announcement Tuesday, saying in a statement that he "hope[s] to continue together in the task of repairing and revitalizing our great nation."
The decision to run for another Senate term could complicate Paul's presidential ambitions, because Kentucky law bars candidates from running for multiple offices on the same ballot. Paul's camp is already exploring ways to skirt that restriction.
