The new trailer for Fox's Peanuts movie starts convincingly enough: Snoopy, Woodstock, and that song everybody loves from A Charlie Brown Christmas. And then Snoopy dons his Red Baron cap, the crappy pop song kicks in, and the whole thing suddenly becomes another charmless Hollywood riff on a beloved classic:
"From the imagination of Charles Schulz," promises the trailer — but there's not much here that resembles the comic strip Schulz spent most of his life drawing. Let's hope the actual Peanuts movie hews a little closer to what made Peanuts special in the first place.
