Children of the '90s likely remember Surge, the neon yellow soft drink that tasted like Mountain Dew on crack and disappeared from soda fountains everywhere far too soon. But 11 years after Surge's discontinuation, Coca-Cola has some good news for anyone who wants to relive the soft-drink glory days of 1996: Surge has returned, and you can buy a 12-pack of it right now on Amazon.
Coca-Cola said in a statement that a popular Facebook group lobbying for Surge's return played a large role in the company's decision to sell the drink online. As of now, though, Surge's future beyond online retail is unclear. "Future plans for the brand will depend on the level of excitement exhibited by fans across the country," said Wendy Clark, president of sparkling and strategic marketing for Coca-Cola North America. So Surge fans, it's time to stock up.
