Hillary Clinton is trying to brush off criticism of the staggering speaking fees she and husband Bill have earned since leaving the White House, saying that the former first family was once deep in debt.
"We came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt," Clinton told ABC's Diane Sawyer, referring to the hefty legal costs the family incurred during Bill's presidency. "We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelsea's education."
The full interview will air Monday night. Until then, here's a short preview courtesy of ABC. --Jon Terbush
