The NCAA men's basketball final was a match-up of the low seeds, but Tuesday night's women's final for the first time pitted two undefeated teams — Notre Dame and Connecticut — against each other. Only UConn can claim a perfect record now, after the Huskies soundly defeated the Irish, 79-58. That seals a March Madness sweep for UConn, with both men's and women's teams winning their respective titles — the second time the Huskies have accomplished this feat.
UConn's victory was also a big win for Coach Geno Auriemma, who now has a record nine women's NCAA titles under his belt.
The parties in Storrs, Conn., must be pretty intense tonight.
