Michael Bay is remaking The Birds

Working under the banner of his company Platinum Bay, Michael Bay has produced a wide range of awful horror remakes: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (36 percent positive reviews), The Amityville Horror (24 percent positive reviews), Friday the 13th (26 percent positive reviews), and A Nightmare on Elm Street (15 percent positive reviews).
But despite the company's apparent inability to remake even the simplest of slasher movies, Platinum Bay has set its sights on a considerably higher target: Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, which is roundly regarded as one of the best thrillers of all time.
Variety reports that Platinum Bay has already found a director for the project: Diederik Van Rooijen, who you definitely don't remember as the filmmaker behinds movies like Taped and Daylight. Hitchcock fans are already up in arms, but don't forget, this is what everybody said when Gus Van Sant remade Psycho with Anne Heche and Vince Vaughn in 1998 — and that turned out pretty well, right?
