A Staten Island, N.Y., company called Grass is Greener guarantees you a green lawn with no mowing, watering, or fertilizing. The secret? Entrepreneur Joe Perazzo will slather your dry, brown, pathetic-excuse-for-grass with spray paint to turn it into a verdant wonder. Perazzo, a physical education teacher, got the idea after noticing workers spraying emerald turf paint over brown patches on his school's football field. A home application costs about $125 for 2,000 square feet. "It lasts three months if the grass is alive and growing," Perazzo says, "but if the grass is dead, it's permanent."
