Arkansas lawmakers on Thursday passed an updated version of a religious freedom bill after adding in protections against LGBT discrimination. The bill heads to Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R), who earlier this week refused to sign the original bill unless lawmakers made revisions to ensure it could not be used to discriminate based on sexual orientation.

Also Thursday, Indiana's legislature approved changes to that state's religious freedom law after a nationwide backlash prompted Gov. Mike Pence (R) to call for similar protections against LGBT discrimination.
