Al Shabaab militants warn of 'long, gruesome war' against Kenya

Days after four al Shabaab gunmen attacked a Kenyan university, killing nearly 150 people, the al Qaeda-linked group vowed more violence against the Kenyan public, in a message released on Saturday.
"No amount of precaution or safety measures will be able to guarantee your safety, thwart another attack, or prevent another bloodbath from occurring in your cities," the group wrote in an email obtained by Reuters.
In the message, al Shabaab claimed that the university attack was retribution for Kenya's military presence in Somalia, and the country's mistreatment of Muslims. The massacre has raised fears amongst Christian Kenyans, as survivor accounts detail how the gunmen separated Christian students from their Muslim counterparts, before shooting those in the former group.
