A federal judge on Thursday sentenced David Petraeus, the former CIA director and retired general who led military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, to two years of probation for leaking state secrets. Petraeus was also fined $100,000, or $60,000 more than the government suggested in a plea deal reached earlier this year.

Petraeus pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for unlawfully providing classified material to his former mistress, who was also his biographer. Petraeus resigned from the CIA in 2012 following the disclosure of his affair.
