New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is banking on New Hampshire to revive his presidential prospects. He may want to reconsider that approach.
In a new Bloomberg Politics survey, conducted by Purple Strategies and released Monday, Christie placed sixth among a slate of GOP candidates at seven percent. Worse, he came in one spot behind real estate tycoon and political lightweight Donald Trump. Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker led the poll with 12 percent apiece, followed by Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.).
The poll is the second recent survey to show warning signs for Christie. Last week, a WMUR poll found him tied for tenth place in New Hampshire at a dismal three percent, putting him behind Trump and two other candidates with zero political experience, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina. Less than a year ago, the same survey found Christie on top of the field with almost 20 percent.
