It's safe to say that the pastel marshmallows in Lucky Charms don't exist organically in nature. And while it's not like we can grow hearts, stars, and horseshoes on trees, General Mills recently announced a plan to ditch the artificial ingredients in its cereals by 2017 in an effort to go a bit more au naturel.

Lucky Charms is just one of many cereals that will see a change: While 60 percent of General Mills' cereals, such as Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch, don't have artificial ingredients, 40 percent of their cereals still do. Other cereals undergoing the transformation include Reese's Puffs, Trix, and Cocoa Puffs.
