The Rambo franchise has earned a justified reputation for insane, over-the-top violence — so it's easy to forget that the original movie, First Blood, was a relatively grounded movie about a Vietnam veteran dealing with PTSD.
That history may explain why several publications were fooled by an erroneous report, widely circulated on Monday, that the Rambo franchise would return to its political roots for Last Blood — a new movie that would see John Rambo traveling to Iraq and Syria to battle ISIS. Stallone was purported to have announced Last Blood during a panel at Comic-Con.
While Rambo 5 has long been discussed (and may well happen someday), the Comic-Con story is false. "Sylvester Stallone did not attend Comic-Con 2015, and consequently there was no official remark from him regarding Rambo made there at the event," a representative for Stallone said in a statement.
