U.S. soccer star Alex Morgan will be the first woman to appear on a FIFA video game cover

The triumph of the U.S. women's national soccer team continues.

For the first time in its 22-year history, FIFA the video game will feature a woman on its cover — and that woman is Alex Morgan, forward for the world champion U.S. women's soccer team. Behold:

Granted, Morgan may have been less prominent in her team's World Cup run than teammates Carli Lloyd or Megan Rapinoe, and yes, she has to share the spotlight with male superstar Lionel Messi, but the move represents another step forward for women in the FIFA world; the 2016 iteration of the game will feature women's teams for the first time ever. And Morgan certainly seems to be a fan of her co-cover star:

For her part, Morgan told USA Today it's a "great honor to be on the cover of the game… It's going to tremendously help the women's game in creating more awareness."
