Donald Trump is breathing a sigh of relief after Vice President Joe Biden officially announced Wednesday that he will not be running for president:
Back in August, Trump was one of the many people who predicted that Biden would jump into the race. He thought that Hillary Clinton may be so "badly damaged" by her email scandal that she would be pushed out of the race — and, essentially, replaced by Biden. When discussing that prospect in another interview, Trump added that he thought Biden "would be fun to run against, frankly."
Turns out, Trump is finding it even more fun now that the veep isn't running. In the most recent CNN/ORC poll of potential general election matchups, Trump fared better against Clinton than he did against Biden. While Trump still lost to Clinton 50-45 in a hypothetical general election matchup, he lost even worse to Biden, doubling that percentage-point difference to 53-43.
