What do you get for the man who really, really, really wants to be president?
For his 45th birthday on Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) asked for $45 donations from supporters. Actually, it was his wife, Heidi, who clued them in on his birthday wish in an email sent on Monday, CBS News reports. Heidi Cruz requested they sign a personalized birthday card, saying her husband "needs to hear from you" in order to win, and then asked the potential backers to "chip in $45 to help him become the 45th President of the United States."
Instead of staying home and eating cake, Cruz spent his big day on the "Take-Off with Ted Cruz Country Christmas Tour," speaking to a crowd in Nashville. They serenaded him with "Happy Birthday" in return.
