Mariah Carey is engaged to her boyfriend of a year, Australian billionaire businessman James Packer.
E! Online reports that he proposed in New York City on Thursday, and presented the singer with a 35-carat diamond ring. This will be the third marriage for both. A breathless insider (one of Carey's alter egos? Her publicist? Nick Cannon?) told E! they became friends in 2014, but once it turned romantic "they have wanted to spend every moment together. They have a connection that is unparalleled; it's been a very beautiful experience for them both. If you spend even five minutes with them, you can't help but believe in true love."
Since becoming a couple, Carey and Packer have been spotted together in Italy, Ibiza, and the Western Wall, where another insider says they shared a "very intimate moment as a couple." A third source told E! that Packer enjoys surprising Carey with lavish trips, because she "has the world at her fingertips, but he likes to find things that she has never experienced."
