Speaking at a town hall event in Iowa, Hillary Clinton responded enthusiastically to a question about appointing President Obama to the Supreme Court after he leaves the White House.
"Wow, what a great idea," she said. "No one has ever suggested that to me, I love that, wow. He may have a few other things to do but I tell you that's a great idea." After speaking briefly on the importance of SCOTUS nominations, she circled back to the Obama idea and concluded, "I would certainly take that under advisement. I mean he’s brilliant, and he can set forth an argument, and he was a law professor, so he's got all the credentials."
To date, only one president, William Howard Taft, has occupied both the Oval Office and the Supreme Court bench. Taft was president from 1909 to 1913 and chief justice from 1921 to 1930.
