The 2016 Iowa caucuses were the 'closest in Iowa Democratic caucus history'

Iowa has never before seen a contest as close as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders' Monday night. Though Clinton has been crowned the "apparent winner" of the 2016 Democratic Iowa caucuses, she clings to that title by only 49.9 percent to Sanders' 49.5 percent — or a mere four delegates.

Iowa party chairman Andy McGuire called the race "the closest in Iowa Democratic history," adding that Democratic Party officials are still holding off on officially declaring a winner.
