Chris Christie's approval rating plummets following his Trump endorsement

Chris Christie might in fact have something to be sad about. After announcing his support of Donald Trump last Friday, the New Jersey governor's approval ratings at home have plummeted, Politico reports.
The poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University's Public Mind released Wednesday shows Christie with the highest disapproval rating since he took office — 61 percent of voters disapprove of him. Among Republicans, a slight majority approve of Christie at 54 percent, with 37 percent disapproving. Democrats are much more upset, with 77 percent saying they disapprove of Christie.
"Joining forces with Donald Trump was hardly a vehicle for getting voters to reconsider their sour mood toward the governor," director of FDU's Public Mind Krista Jenkins explained.

Disapproval increased from 59 percent to 64 percent in the days following Christie's endorsement of Trump, but Politico cautions that the numbers have a margin of error of over 5 percent due to the small sample size. Nevertheless, Christie clearly hasn't won over too many new fans in his state.
Outside of New Jersey, people aren't too thrilled with Christie, either. The influential New Hampshire Union Leader confessed Tuesday that it had made a mistake endorsing Christie. "Boy, we were wrong," publisher Joseph McQuaid wrote following Christie's endorsement of Trump.
The FDU poll was conducted from Feb. 24-28, and surveyed 694 registered voters. Christie endorsed Trump on Feb. 26.
