White House continues to loosen Cuba travel restrictions

The White House continued to ease restrictions on travel to Cuba Tuesday ahead of President Obama's historic trip to Havana next week. The changes, which include allowing individuals to make "people to people" trips to the country and lifting limits on spending American dollars in transactions with Cuba, number among some of the most significant made by the Obama administration to normalize relations between Washington and Havana.

"Today's steps build on the actions of the last 15 months as we continue to break down economic barriers, empower the Cuban people and advance their financial freedoms, and chart a new course in U.S.-Cuba relations," Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew said.
